Rise of MUFC Chennai

The oldest and biggest supporters club in the state

The year 2007 saw a few Manchester United enthusiasts in Chennai get together and talk about the greatest football club in the world. Slowly these dozen odd people became close knit, discussing things like screening matches among others. There was a community setup in Orkut around 2008 for our group and 2010 saw the same bunch setup screenings for United matches. On 3rd August 2011, the MUFC Chennai Facebook group was created and the community was shifted from Orkut to Facebook thereon.

Four years down the line, the mantle has been passed and a strong core committee was formed and we have been organizing screenings for the past 3 seasons and will continue to do the same in the forthcoming seasons. While primary focus is to provide a platform for like minded fans to get together and in the near future become official , we also strive to give something back to our community. Having now been active on all major social media platforms, the MUFC Chennai website was created in 2015. From taking over the screenings at HOC and moving it to La Castle and seeing a record crowd and later shifting to better venues, from introducing memberships to arranging blood camps and to welcoming Giggsy and Scholesy in some style to the city, we’ve come a long way indeed and we shall keep growing with the strong support of our passionate members.
